Slug Canonicalization
Slug Canonicalization Decisions
The Coola workspace has established a set of decisions regarding the canonicalization of slugs for machines, locations, and suppliers/partners. This aims to resolve issues related to drift and duplication across the workspace.
Key Decisions
Machine Slugs: The canonical format for machine identifiers will be
machines/coola-NN, whereNNis a zero-padded two-digit number (e.g.,machines/coola-07). This format will be used for individual deployed units^[atom:ff408905-46e9-40a7-a874-2523a5e398fd].Location Slugs: Each physical site will have one canonical slug, dropping the city suffix unless two sites share the same name. For example, the canonical slug for Metzizim Beach Tel Aviv will be
locations/bayz-metzizim-tel-aviv, retiring previous variations^[atom:3a4464a7-050c-4731-a192-11e69e57c688]. Other locations will follow similar patterns, such aslocations/herzliya-marinafor Herzliya Marina andlocations/bitan-herzliyafor Bitan Herzliya^[atom:04da1cd1-dd4d-420b-8fe4-de60fb6d27dc, atom:71c6f630-1657-4510-a91e-74195d6ed78d].Supplier/Partner Slugs: Ice Rebus will have two canonical slugs:
partners/ice-rebusfor partnership andsuppliers/ice-rebusfor equipment supply^[atom:c1dfa3da-836a-4654-a499-95ed0a55161a].Retirement of Old Slugs: The workspace will retire old slugs that have caused confusion or duplication, such as
metzizim-beach-tel-avivandbayz-hilton-beach^[atom:3, atom:9].
Observations
The Coola workspace had accumulated drift across machine, location, and supplier/partner slugs, leading to duplicate pages and broken citations^[atom:d3dd7b9b-14b5-4f98-b7fa-d5fb0508b7fa]. The new canonicalization strategy aims to streamline references and improve operational clarity.
Implementation
These decisions will be implemented immediately to ensure consistency across the workspace. The focus will be on maintaining a clear and organized structure for all entities involved in the Coola business.
